Responsibilities
Gain clear understanding of an adequate staff commensurate to the day-to-day workload. Ensure all company policy and procedures are followed accordingly.
Ensure most efficient and cost-effective methods are being used pertaining to orders, workflow, systems, delivery, and file. Ensure deliverable's meet quality control standards.
Maintain process awareness on each job to ensure open line of communication and to maintain and enforce turnaround times to accommodate client's needs.
Requirements
Must possess current Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor License
Experience as an RPLS
Proficient in Carlson IntelliCAD
Good managerial and communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to safety principles and protocols
Strong organizational skills with an emphasis for detail and meeting deadlines

Working Conditions: Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, long days, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Home builder client work scopes to include plot plans, form & final surveys, elevation certificates, etc.
Searches legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed
Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed
Direct or conduct surveys to establish tract or parcel boundaries
Write legal descriptions for easements and boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Will work primarily in the field as Party Chief of a one, two or three-person field crew.
Must be proficient with all types of surveys. May also perform some office duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using survey computer programs and AutoCAD
 
Will accurately run and adjust survey measuring instruments including levels, GPS equipment, and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilities
Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data
Take accurate and clear notes and performs note reduction Reads and understands plans and specifications
Know basic sources of measurement errors
Know principles of monumentation, staking and marking

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
A high school education or equivalent is required including a background in math, geometry and trigonometry
A minimum of 5 years total survey experience, 3 of which as a Party Chief Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators
Must be proficient in the use of total stations, GPS Receivers and data collectors
Must be physically able to work long hours and carry heavy loads
Possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication
Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential requirements
Must be able to work in inclement weather
Valid, Insurable TX Drivers License required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare detailed drawings for foundations, buildings, and structures based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data.
Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
Collaborate with engineers and other subject matter experts to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinate work with others.
Operate computer-aided drafting (CAD) equipment or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms, and records.
Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on designs.
Prepare cost estimates, contracts, bidding documents, and technical reports for specific projects under an architect's or engineer’s supervision.
Explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments, as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
This position will report to the Operations Manager.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
Three (3) years of relevant work experienced preferred
Drafting certificate from an accredited school or equivalent job experience required
Must have a good working knowledge of AutoCAD’s basic commands
Ability to represent the company effectively in a professional manor
Proficient working knowledge of computers and Windows applications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook)
Strong data analytical skills required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
